The suspect, identified as Paul Odhiambo Owuodho, also known by the alias Fazul Muhamed, was apprehended last evening in a joint operation led by Shauri Moyo detectives and their counterparts from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters.

According to a report filed at California Police Station, a security guard heard a gunshot on the night of the incident. Police officers arrived promptly at the scene and found Ibrahim’s body lying in a pool of blood, with a fatal bullet wound to his neck.

Following extensive investigations and a relentless pursuit, the suspect was located in the Kiambiu slums and taken into custody. The arrest marks a significant development in the case, which had left the Kamukunji community in shock.

The National Police Service (NPS) confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Saturday, November 23. The statement detailed the early-morning operation that led to Odhiambo’s capture, emphasizing the role of intelligence in tracking down the suspect.

“Today, DCI officers, acting on intelligence, conducted an operation in Kiambiu slums and apprehended one Paul Othiambo Owuodho alias Fazul Muhamed,” the statement read.

“The suspect is also linked to the murder of one police officer, namely PC David Mayaka of DCI Makadara, which occurred in Mihango Kayole area on August 23, 2023. The matter is currently before the court,” the NPS statement added.

The shooting of Abdirahim Abdullahi Ibrahim was captured on CCTV, which showed the suspect approaching Ibrahim and a woman, firing at close range, and shooting Ibrahim near the neck. The bullet exited through the other side. The suspect reportedly stole Ibrahim’s mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

The NPS has reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice for victims and their families. Investigations into both cases are ongoing as authorities work to uncover any additional links and bring all involved parties to justice.
