Dubai Motorcycle Rider Jobs Open for Kenyans: Dr. Alfred Mutua Announces

In a recent post on X, Dr. Alfred N. Mutua, Cabinet Secretary, announced an exciting job opportunity for Kenyan motorcycle riders in Dubai. A United Arab Emirates company is set to interview and hire 600 motorcycle riders in Nairobi and Malindi next month, aiming to reduce unemployment among Kenyan youth and boost diaspora remittances.
Successful candidates will earn a minimum of 2,925 dirhams monthly, approximately Kshs 104,000, tax-free. The package includes free accommodation, a company-provided motorcycle, comprehensive medical care, and a work visa. Riders have the potential to increase their earnings by making more deliveries, with the initiative potentially doubling their income.
Qualifications and Financial Requirements
Applicants need:
- A valid Kenyan passport or proof of an eCitizen application in progress.
- A Certificate of Good Conduct or proof of an eCitizen application in progress.
- A valid rider’s license.
- Experience is not mandatory but advantageous, particularly for bodaboda riders.
Candidates must cover pre-arrival costs estimated at Kshs 167,900, which include payment to the HR provider in Dubai (2,200 dirhams = Kshs 81,400), airfare (Kshs 40,000), medical fee (Kshs 16,500), and processing fees (Kshs 30,000). Banks are aligned to offer loans to cover these expenses, with the medical fee to be paid upfront, and the remaining costs after passing medicals.
Interview Sessions
- Nairobi: December 9-11, 2024, at Kamukunji TVC, next to Kamukunji Primary, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Malindi: December 13-14, 2024, at Kilifi North TVC, Watamu Town, next to Watamu Primary, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Ministry of Labour officials will be present to ensure ethical recruitment practices. Dr. Mutua encourages all qualified riders, especially bodaboda operators, to seize this opportunity.
Dr. Mutua stated, “Mbele iko Sawa,” expressing optimism about the potential impact of this initiative on the Kenyan economy and the lives of many young people.
Preparation for Travel
Successful applicants must be ready to travel to Dubai before the end of the year, where they will undergo four months of training to obtain UAE riding licenses and commence their new roles. This initiative aims to provide sustainable employment for Kenyan youth and enhance their contribution to the country’s economy through increased remittances from abroad.
