“Sirikal” Murder Suspect is Arrested

Evance Akoko, popularly known as “Sirikal.” known for his extravagant displays of wealth on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, Akoko frequently posted images of luxury cars, opulent nights out, extravagant parties, and scenic road trips. His lifestyle, which projected an image of affluence and success, garnered admiration from numerous young followers, especially within university circles. However, the sources of his income remained a mystery, leading to widespread speculation and curiosity.

Tragically, Akoko’s death comes just weeks after the passing of another wealthy student at Kirinyaga University, Dennis Oduor Otieno, also known as “Denno Bright.” The two deaths have cast a pall of uncertainty and fear over the campus.

In a significant development, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) based in Kibra have arrested Brian Otieno Maurice, the prime suspect in the murder of Sospeter Osunga, alias “Akoko the Billionaire.” The fatal incident occurred on November 18, 2024, in the Ayani area, where Osunga sustained fatal wounds believed to have been inflicted by a sharp object.

According to the DCI, Osunga was attacked by a gang of hoodlums, resulting in severe injuries to his back. Following thorough investigations, three individuals were initially arrested and provided crucial information that, combined with other intelligence leads, led to the apprehension of the main suspect. Maurice is set to be arraigned in court today.

The DCI has urged the public to maintain peace and refrain from actions that could lead to unnecessary loss of lives and disruption of community harmony.

The deaths of Akoko and Otieno have raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of students at Kirinyaga University. As the investigation continues, the university community is left to grapple with the loss of two young lives, both of whom were seen as symbols of success and aspiration among their peers.
